Department of Homland Security wants to buy 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO for "personal defense weapons." These guns are also called assault weapons when they are in the hands of a civilian. These firearms that are asked for will be "select fire" meaning they can be semi-automatic and automatic.

This is a huge debate on what is right and what is wrong. People have different views on their beliefs. Also the government has their own reasons for doing these things which some people do not like.
